During December and January, each year, we run a Sense of Place Photo Competition. The criteria are simple:
- You must have taken the photo
- It must include Champagne Castle (the mountain)
- It doesn’t have to be taken at the Hotel
- It must capture A Sense of Place
Photos are voted for by the public, and the top 20 photos go through to the final round of judging, at the end of the competition. We put together a tam of 3 people at the hotel who select the winner.
2019 / 2020 Champagne Castle Hotel Sense of Place Winner
We had 95 entries with hundreds of votes. The pictures were incredible and the judging panel took far longer than any other year selecting a winning entry.
This year’s winner of the Sense of Place Photo Competition was Chris Preen with this incredible photo of a sunset in the Central Drakensberg. Well done to Chris who wins a two night stay at Champagne Castle Hotel, for 2 people during 2020.
